Exceptional exam results celebrated at Coleg Menai
Learners across Coleg Menai are celebrating today after achieving outstanding A Level and vocational results, with top grades increasing again this year.
A fantastic 44% of the college’s A Level results are at A* or A grade with 81% at A* to C grade. The college’s A level learners, who are all based at the Llangefni campus, achieved an overall pass rate of 100%. Vocational learners across both the Bangor and Llangefni campuses also achieved outstanding results, with 25% gaining the highest Distinction* or Distinction grades.
Whether learners have chosen to progress directly to work, apprenticeships or university, these excellent results will enable them to take their next step with confidence. Several will go on to study at prestigious universities, including Russell Group universities. Many learners have chosen to continue their studies at Bangor, Wrexham or other universities in Wales, including progressing onto higher education courses at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai.
Dr Siôn Peters-Flynn, Principal of Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion Dwyfor, both part of Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai, said: “We’re delighted to see our learners so happy with their achievements today. It’s particularly pleasing to see the strong proportion of high grades for A level and vocational qualifications here at Coleg Menai.
“Over 40%of our A-level results are at A* or A grade which is significantly above the Wales and UK averages. These results are testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff members, and of course, our learners.
“We wish our learners all the very best as they confidently take the next steps in their career journeys, be it into higher education, apprenticeship or full-time employment. At the same time we look forward to welcoming the next cohort of eager learners in the coming days.”
A Level Success
Llio Lowies, studying A Levels at the Llangefni campus, achieved an outstanding A* in Biology, A* in Chemistry and A in Physics. Llio, who was named A Level Student of the Year at Coleg Menai’s 2026 Student Awards, is planning to go to Cardiff University to study medicine. Llio said:
“The tutors at college helped me gain confidence. They were really helpful and had more faith in me than I had in myself!”
Logan Lines, also a Llangefni campus student, achieved a fabulous A* in Mathematics, A in Biology and A in Chemistry. Logan’s next step is to study Natural Sciences at University College London. Grateful for the support he received from his tutors, Logan said:
“I appreciate everything they’ve done for me. They helped me improve and guided me to get those grades.”
Level 3 Success
Jess Clary studied Level 3 Applied Science and achieved a fantastic triple Distinction. Jess is now heading to Bangor University to study Zoology and had some great advice for new students starting in September:
“When it seems too hard, just keep pushing through.”
Jac Evans also studied applied science and achieved a great result of two Distinctions and one Merit. Jac is now looking forward to going to the University of Brighton to study Ecology and Conservation. Talking about his time at college, Jac said:
“It was great. I would definitely recommend college for anyone. I’d like to thank my tutors - it was the people who made college so special.”
Faith Robinson achieved an A for her Level 3 Children’s Care course. Faith is now heading to Edge Hill University to study Early Years.
