A-level Law students at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor recently had the opportunity to question barrister Alys Williams about her work and her experiences within the legal profession. Alys currently works for Civitas Law in Cardiff.

Before gaining a first-class law degree from the University of Liverpool and a Professional Law qualification from Manchester University, she studied A- levels at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor's Pwllheli campus.

Alys talked about her background, her day-to-day work, and her experiences of working within the legal profession. The visit culminated with a very interesting question and answer session, which the students found extremely informative.

Student feedback gleaned at the end of the session included: "I found that there were many benefits from getting the chance to interact with a barrister. I have come to understand the personal requirements for the job and have grown even more interested in the law after talking to our visitor. I learned that studying in Welsh is beneficial to you within the field and that you can specialise within different fields. I'm grateful for having this really unique opportunity, as you don't get chances like this on a daily basis." "I had a very interesting time listening to the guest speaker. I really liked hearing about her experience and how Alys got to where she is today. It gave me an insight into what a barrister's job is, and what I need to do to reach that level. I learned a lot through the discussion."

We are grateful, and very proud of Alys, we thank her for a very interesting and useful session.
