Hairdressing students at Coleg Menai competed against one another in the virtual Hairdressing Competition on Friday (February 5th).

Usually, the competition would be held on Coleg Menai's Friars Site - however, due to the COVID-19 related lockdown, the students participated virtually from their homes.

The budding hairdressers competed in four different categories. These were:

  • Blow-dry
  • Hair-up / Prom
  • Bridal
  • Avant-Garde

Judged by the Hairdressing Tutors, the Learners were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place:

Blow-dry

1st: Ellie Marshall

2nd: Raven Vadoma

3rd: Naiomi Lomax / Fey West

Hair-up / Prom

1st: Grace Weston

2nd: Lisa Livingston

3rd: Khia Watson

Bridal

1st: Ellie Marshall

2nd: Fey West

3rd: Grace Weston / Jessica Evans-Tomlinson

Avant Garde

1st: Raven Vadona / Naiomi Lomax

2nd: Lisa Livingston

It is hoped that a Grŵp-wide competition can be organised soon, where the successful learners from each College will compete against each other.

Frances Davies, Programme Manager for Service Industries at Coleg Menai, said, "We are immensely proud of all of the students who took part in this competition. Although we could not hold a physical event, we were determined to find a way for our students to get involved in the annual competition.

She added, "Holding the competition virtually was a great success, and it was a pleasure to see the students get involved in such a fun event. Thanks to all of the staff who organised the Competition!"
