Two Hairdressing students at Coleg Menai's Friars Site in Bangor have progressed to the final round of a National Hairdressing competition.

Charlene Creed, a VRQ Level 2 Hairdressing student, was recently crowned the winner at the regional Level 2 Avant Garde Concept Hair Competition, and is now through to the national final.

Leanne Snowden, who studies Level 3 VRQ Hairdressing, has also won a place in the grand final of the Avant Garde Concept Hair Competition, for Level 3 learners.

Competing against 20 others in the final round of the 2021 Concept Hair Learner of the Year this spring, Leanne and Charlene will design and create a look using the theme of 'Safari'.

Leanne and Charlene said, "We are so grateful to have come so far in the Avant Garde Concept competition, and we're so excited to compete in the Final Round! Our tutors at College have been so encouraging and have supported us every step of the way".

Awena Wyn Williams, Hairdressing Programme Leader at Coleg Menai, added, "We are all extremely proud of the girls, and we wish them both all the best at the Grand Final!"
