In a bid to inspire and enlighten, a Bank of England talk was recently held at Coleg Menai.
In the virtual speaking engagement, Deputy Agent for Wales, Mr Ian Derrick explained the roles and operational processes of the Bank of England, to Business A-Level and BTEC Business Level 3 students.
Economist Ian talked to the students about the British economy, what the Bank of England is responsible for, and the financial impact of COVID-19.
At the end of the session, students were given the opportunity to ask Ian questions. The questions covered a range of topics such as the importance of banking, the use of cash and BitCoin currency.
Mr Derrick said, "It was great speaking to the students at Coleg Menai, who were really interested in the work that the Bank of England does."
Programme Area Manager for Business, Karen Griffith, explained, "It's fantastic that even in these times of online learning, Coleg Menai is able to offer its learners access to a speaker from such a prestigious organisation as the Bank of England. The learners have benefitted from hearing first hand about the workings of the bank and this helps to bring the subject alive for them. We are always glad to be able to offer our learners these opportunities."
Business Lecturer Guto Jones, who arranged the event, added, "It was great that Mr Ian Derrick was able to give such an inspiring and educational talk here at Coleg Menai. Coleg Menai is great place to study economics or business, and I would encourage any prospective students to visit our website for more information on our courses."
