Talented Music Technology students from Coleg Llandrillo were amazed to discover that their recently released album 'Pink Noise' had reached number 8 in the iTunes album charts… outselling Ed Sheeran and George Ezra's debut albums!
To add to this remarkable achievement, one of the singles from the album, 'Facing the Facts', by 16-year-old Louis Peters from Denbigh, independently charted at 71 in the singer/songwriter singles chart. The album is a compilation of original music, which was both created and produced by the gifted collective using the college's state-of-the-art recording and mixing studios at the Rhos-on-Sea campus.
Scores attended the charity album release party at Venue Cymru last week, where the Level 3 Music Technology students involved gave a presentation relating to the process involved in putting the album together, before performing a few tracks from it live.
One of the musicians, and a key organiser, 18-year-old Jacob Jones from Rhyl - who is also the student union president for Coleg Llandrillo - said:
We are so proud of the album we have produced and have all worked so hard on it. We peaked at number 8 in the iTunes streaming chart, which is absolutely mental! Please support us on our journey by downloading and streaming our album, 'Pink Noise'. It's available now on all major music platforms.
Robin Williams, programme area manager for Creative Arts at Coleg Llandrillo, spoke soon after the CD's release. He said:
What a fantastic achievement by our students: currently they are out-streaming a number of the world's top performers.
