Toad was up to his old tricks again during a run of live theatre shows of a children's classic presented by Coleg Llandrillo's Performing Arts students.

The dynamic players spent months putting together the heart-warming tale of 'Toad of Toad Hall'. The evening's entertainment was performed by members of the college's company, Bearfoot Productions, at the college's Theatr Alwyn.

Audiences embarked on a new adventure with favourite childhood friends, Toad, Badger, Ratty and Mole, as the foursome faced new challenges and trials on their journey to save Toad Hall.

Jon Crowther, lecturer in Performing and Production Arts at Coleg Llandrillo, said:

Inspired by the famous tale 'Wind in the Willows', 'Toad of Toad Hall' has been adapted by our students into a delightful play filled with excitement and adventure, which still captures the all-important message of friendship. 'Toad of Toad Hall' is a play like no other!

The production was created by the whole cohort of students, with year two students predominantly filling the roles of cast members and year one students assisting with the production: scenic artistry, prop making, sound and lighting.

18-year-old Teddy Jones from Abergele, who played the lead role of Toad, said:

The opening night was amazing; we got all the laughs we were hoping for. The weeks of preparation paid off; the feedback has been incredible. It was a delight to bring an old children's classic to a modern day audience.

'Toad of Toad Hall' garnered great reviews on the department's social media channel, which can be found at Bearfoot Productions on Facebook.

The next production by the student company will be the smash-hit musical 'Rock of Ages', which will be staged at Theatr Colwyn on 13, 14 and 15 June. See Theatr Colwyn's website for ticket information.
