Students from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor have earned exceptional grades and have been offered scholarships by both Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities in record numbers this year.

Students from across Pwllheli and Dolgellau campuses have worked hard all year to obtain fantastic grades and many have been offered a place to study at either Aberystwyth or Bangor University with financial aid. 20 learners from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor colleges have been offered a scholarship this year, which is a significant rise in numbers since last year when 4 students were offered the same scholarships.

Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai (GLLM) is extremely pleased that these Welsh universities are investing in the country's future workforce by offering financial aid to students who have excelled academically. For some, going to university would not be possible without financial support such as this. GLLM colleges are working hard to ensure their students are achieving their absolute potential no matter what their background so it's extremely gratifying when its students' hard work is rewarded in this way.

Commenting on the scholarships awarded, Gareth Lanagan, General Education Programme Area Manager at Pwllheli, said:

It is great to see the success of the students studying A Levels on the Dolgellau and Pwllheli sites of Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor. We work very closely with both Bangor and Aberystwyth Universities and are very grateful for the opportunities provided to the students. We wish all the students well with their further studies.

Mian Sion, one of the students who will be going to Bangor University in September, expressed her excitement:

It is an honour to have received a scholarship to Bangor University, especially given that I will be attending a University within my local area. Thanks to the College for allowing me to make an application for the scholarship and for all the support I have been given.

Making sure every student reaches their fullest potential is something Grwp Llandrillo-Menai takes very seriously and will support those who wish to apply for scholarships such as these in the future.
