Grŵp Llandrillo Menai students recently had a workshop with Golwg, a weekly news and current affairs magazine.
Dylan Iorwerth (one of the founders of the magazine, and an editorial director of the company) and Siân Sutton (editor of Golwg) came to the Pwllheli site to hold a talk with students about the work of Golwg including the beginning of the magazine, developments in readers' reading patterns and developments in recent media such as the Golwg360 website and the Bro360 project.
The students had a short workshop on how to write an article for a magazine like Golwg, including techniques to write short and catchy articles and how to set text to encourage readers to read.
The session was also an opportunity to raise students' awareness of the magazine. At the end of the talk, Siân and Dylan announced a competition especially for Grŵp Llandrillo Menai students to write a story, anecdote, event or experience that offers a picture of the lives of young people in their area today. The winner will be published in Golwg magazine.
Many thanks to Dylan Iowerth and Siân Sutton of Golwg for holding the talk / workshop, thanks also to the students for attending the session.
