Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's Centre for Infrastructure Skills and Training (CIST) recently proved its value to a group of Job Centre Clients.

The training was funded by Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and training was delivered by Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's Scaffolding Training Partners, Simian Risk from Warrington.

The group of 10 completed a two week Scaffolding Safety Training Course: CISRS Operative Training Scheme (COTS), Ascentist Level 1, Mental Health Awareness Training, scaffolding towers team building and a 4-day work experience placement with local scaffolding companies: Anglesey Scaffolding, Abbey Scaffolding, Steel Scaffolding, Jamie Segar Scaffolding and MA Scaffolding.

One of those taking part in the scheme was Jim Williams from Llandudno Junction, he heard about the course through the DWP and jumped at the chance to gain a qualification that would help him gain work in the construction industry. Jim commented:

It's been a very good course, I've really enjoyed the work and I'm 100% sure that this qualification will enable me to get scaffolding work in the near future.

Isaac Morrison from Simian delivered the training, he added:

This group has been a pleasure to work with, they all took the course seriously, impressed in their work experience placements and in the classroom. Now they have completed their CISRS Operative Training Scheme they can go out and look for work in the construction industry.
