Ten Foundation Degree (FdA) Health and Social Care students from Coleg Meirion Dwyfor (Dolgellau site) have recently been awarded the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s Incentive Scholarship.
The scholarships, worth £1500 each over three years, were available to students in the first year that were studying at least 40 credits of their higher education course through the medium of Welsh. According to Sara Davies, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Branch Officer at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai;
This is a very positive milestone for Grŵp Llandrillo Menai in terms of offering more opportunities for students to study through the medium of Welsh. Promoting the use of Welsh in Health and Social Care is a key priority area for the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and we are very grateful for the Incentive Scholarships. It will give students the confidence to continue their studies in Welsh and an understanding of the value of Welsh to the workplace. Over the next few years, we hope that these scholarships will be available to different courses across Grŵp Llandrillo Menai. This is certainly a very exciting time in developing Welsh language provision in the Further Education and Apprenticeships sector.
