Coleg Llandrillo's Sports Academy students raised hundreds of pounds for charity after organising a multi-sport event at the college's Rhos-on-Sea campus, where students took on their tutors in a range of sports.

The Sport and Performance Level 2 students spent weeks preparing, organising and marketing the one-day event.

Students and staff from the Sports and Public Services department paid £1 each to participate in knockout competitions in a range of sports, including football, netball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton and tag rugby. The group's selected charity this year was Cancer Research UK.

The students set up a committee prior to the competition, to deal with all aspects of the event. Sports lecturer David Beirne, said:

Some of the students were slightly stressed during the build-up, but because they raised so much on the day for such a worthwhile charity, it made it all worthwhile. We would like to thank all the people that entered the competitions for their support.
