Students at Coleg Llandrillo were "absolutely thrilled" to get the chance to quiz an ex-college student who has just finished working on the biggest video game of 2018!

24-year-old Ryan Jones, who is originally from Llandudno, but is now living in London, dropped into the Rhos-on-Sea campus to take part in a QandA with the current crop of Games Development students.

Ryan has been involved in the creation of this year's smash hit video game: 'Red Dead Redemption 2', which is breaking records all over the world.

The former Coleg Llandrillo degree student spent six years studying at the college before securing a position at Rockstar Games. Senior management at the company were that impressed with Ryan at interview, that he was hired before actually finishing his degree! Ryan agreed with his college tutors to send in his final assignments early - before the end of the actual course - after getting the job.

'Red Dead Redemption 2' is now the second biggest launch of all-time in entertainment, with another Rockstar game, Grand Theft Auto V, still on top. This is all of entertainment, whether that's films, games, or anything else! With £570 million in worldwide retail sell-through over its first weekend of release, it's comfortably the biggest selling game of the year.

Ex-Ysgol John Bright student Ryan is a quality assurance tester, performing a vital role. He tests, tunes, debugs and suggests the detailed refinements that ensure the quality and playability of the finished game. He is one of a team which are responsible for assuring quality in the final product and for finding all the flaws in a game before it goes public.

Ryan's goal since he was a young child was to get into the video games industry. On his return to college, he said:

I loved my time at college. The degree course really prepared me for the role within the gaming industry that I now have. My plans for the future are to become a creative director of my own studio.

One of his tutors whilst at college, Jordan Edwards, said:

We are all delighted with his whirlwind progress within the gaming industry. To be involved on one of the biggest games in the world is mind-blowing. He was an excellent student and deserves all the plaudits.

Rockstar Games are publishers of a range of top ten games such as Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, Bully and many more.
