Two video gaming specialists took time out from their busy schedules to share their knowledge with, and provide feedback to, Coleg Llandrillo's Games Development degree students.
Liam Fleming and Jan Korenko, who are currently both employed at Staffordshire University as lecturers within the school of computing and digital technology - specialising in 3D art, CGI and VFX - dropped into the college's Rhos-on-Sea campus to talk about their experiences working in partnership with some of the largest names within the gaming industry.
Liam is an industry veteran and has worked on various projects for Warner Brothers, Lucas Arts, Disney, Marvel and Sony. Jan is a senior lecturer and looks after nearly 60 students and 10 members of academic staff. He has worked as a visual effects artist on numerous high profile television series, as well as working on the production and post-production of commercials and CG shorts for small and medium-size businesses. Jan graduated with a First Class honours degree in Visual Effects.
Coleg Llandrillo tutor Rob Griffiths said:
Liam is an old friend and work colleague who I keep in contact with. I spoke with him and asked him to come down to the college to share his knowledge and experience and to feedback to students on their work. The students were delighted to be able to question Liam and Jan on a range of topics.
One student commented:
What a fantastic opportunity to get insider information on the gaming industry from two such experienced developers. I am looking to go into the industry when I finish my studies, so their feedback and encouragement was invaluable.
