A group of ten fledging managers recently celebrated having completed the 'Young Talent Academy' (YTA) training programme at Llandudno's Venue Cymru.

They are the first cohort to 'graduate' from this innovative training course that aims to equip talented employees with the knowledge, skills and experience needed to flourish in their careers.

The event was attended by VIPs from participating companies and AM for Aberconwy Janet Finch-Saunders.

The managers and supervisors on the course attend with the full support of their employers. One of the company's involved is Ruthin-based Patchwork Foods. Founder Margaret Carter attended the celebration and commented:

I'm beyond impressed with the Young Talent Academy programme. The impact for our candidate as well as for the company has been so positive. This is the best outcome from such an intervention that I have seen in my 36 years of employing staff.

Kate Tilston, a YTA student and PA Team Manager at Hadlow Edwards Wealth Management said:

The Young Talent Academy has grown my confidence and passion immensely. At the start of the course, I could never have imagined I'd be able to speak in front of a room full of business professionals and senior managers. Now, I believe I can achieve anything.

The YTA is delivered by Wrexham Glyndŵr University and is part of the North Wales Business Academy.

Delivered one day per month as a blended learning programme, the 'Leadership and Management' qualification takes 15-months to complete and is designed to enable companies to grow their own talent and invest in their staff.

Wrexham Glyndwr University's Gaenor Roberts, YTA Programme Leader said:

The programme is designed to support the future leaders of North Wales and we are delighted to see the first group of students successfully graduate.

Leaders in business today need to be able to adapt to different management styles and this programme gives the students the opportunity to implement what they learn in their daily work, as well as teaching new skills including marketing, writing business plans and financial analysis.
