Hockey Ace Cerys and 5 Other Pwllheli Girls Play Hockey for Wales at AoC Championships in Nottingham:

Coleg Meiron-Dwyfor Pwllheli student Cerys Studt from Pwllheli plays hockey at Welsh national level and, as if this was not enough, she has now been talent spotted by the UK-level British Colleges Under 19s Team.  Cerys is waiting to hear for confirmation of her selection to play at UK level.

Cerys currently plays hockey in the Centre Main position for Pwllheli's Ladies Team and for North Wales' Under 18s Team.  She also plays for Wales in the Colegau Cymru Team, recently playing 7 games over 3 days in the AoC Championships at Nottingham alongside 5 other Pwllheli students who also made it into the Wales Team.  These were Lowri Hughes, Siân Moore, Niamh Gower, Erin Parry and Catrin Rosewarne.  Having 6 students from one college playing at Wales national level is quite an achievement.

It was excellent experience for our 6 hockey players to represent their country at the highly competitive and prestigious AoC Championships.  They put in a good show and whilst they did not win the Championships, it gave them an excellent opportunity to practise their sport at a higher level than previously.  They also picked up some useful new skills and techniques as a result, as well as making new contacts and friends in the wider world of Hockey.

Cerys, who also plays football for Pwllheli, said:

I have always been sporty and started playing hockey when I was just 3.  My mum and dad played hockey too, with my mum playing at a competitive level. I have early memories of going to see her playing hockey since I was very small.  It is a sport I just love.
