Talented trainee chefs from Coleg Menai's catering department have taken on Italy's most famous export recently, in a bid to win Glanbia Cheese's 'Design-a-Pizza' competition.
Entrants were encouraged to throw tradition out the window and be as creative as they liked when coming up with their ideas - the only hint given was to use mozzarella produced by Glanbia Cheese in Llangefni!
First, second and third prizes were scooped by Coleg Menai students.
Helen Roberts created a pizza with a stuffed mozzarella crust and topping of avocado, bacon and tomato.
Samantha Miller came up with a detailed recipe for the 'Samantha Panther Pizza' a fully loaded creation that called for steak strips, bacon, blue cheese and onion.
Adam Williams offered 'The Super Supreme Pizza' a traditional base layered with 3 cheeses and pepperoni motif in the shape of 'S' for super.
First prize, a voucher for £35 was awarded Samantha, with Helen and Adam coming second and third respectively.
They were invited to Glanbia Cheese in Llangefni where they had a VIP tour of the company, and most importantly they had access to the development kitchens where they made their pizzas for representatives of the company.
Heather Broughton, Senior HR Manager Glanbia Cheese commented:
