Principal Accountabilities / Key Tasks: a) Carry out all aspects of electrical works, both internally and externally within the County Councils area of responsibility. In order to provide more flexibility in the delivery of reactive and planned service, repairs and maintenance and to achieve the Council’s aim of right first time repairs service the post holder must have a reasonable amount of multi skilling abilities in minor joinery, plumbing, plastering, painting and tiling. b) To carry out the Day to Day maintenance and repairs to the Council electrical installations, appliances, systems as instructed by the relevant supervisor or management. To identify repair works by means of diagnostic apparatus. c) To carry out safety checks on all of the Councils electrical installations/systems and appliances and identify any necessary works required to ensure that the installations/systems, appliances are in good order and comply to current regulations. To inspect and identify all works required in order that electrical installations/systems, appliances are functioning correctly and prepare the relevant documentation. d) To accurately complete all relevant documentation (electronic or paper) associated with the duties of an electrician and ensure the prompt return of all relevant information in relation to the daily tasks. e) To be in constant contact with the relevant supervisor at all times by means of the works mobile telephone system. f) Accept responsibility for the direction of work of apprentice, trainees or other employees assigned. g) Willingness to undertake training both on an individual or corporate basis. h) Contribute to the current self-development programme. i) Where a Council vehicle is provided, ensure that it is used in accordance with the Councils current Policy and Procedure. j) To maintain where necessary a pre agreed stock of repair items and equipment within the vehicle provided. k) To operate safely and maintain in good order all hand and diagnostic tools e.g. Drills, meters.     Site Information

    Trawsfynydd Site generated electricity from 1965 - 1991. The mission for us now is to achieve the safe and compliant delivery of the site into Care and Maintenance (CandM) by 2029. The height reduction of both reactor buildings will take place between 2022 - 2026, with final site clearance commencing in 2078.

    We have already made significant decommissioning progress at the site, including:

    Retrieval and packaging of Waste for storage in the sites Intermediate Waste Store

    Major structural modifications to the reactor buildings in preparation for height reduction

    Bulk retrievals and solidification of ponds wastes

    Significant progress on the retrieval of waste from various underground vaults and tanks The focus now is to complete the remaining waste retrieval, prior to the demolition of the cooling ponds and Reactor Height Reduction.

    Role Information Nuclear Worker Apprenticeship standard reference: FR04056 – Level 2 The Radiation Protection / Waste / Decommissioning Technician supports the delivery of a Health Physics and Waste management service in such a way as to minimise the impact on the environment.

    Main Duties:
