Salary: Band 5 pro rata (£24,214)
Hours of work: 32 hours per week (flexible covering weekdays, evenings and weekends)

Treherne Care Group provides a Specialist Domiciliary Care/Support Living arrangements and Residential Care Service for adults with a Mental Disorder (mainly Learning Disability and/or Complex Mental Health Problems) which is unique for its service user group. It is a therapeutic service that offers specifically tailored packages of care that enables individuals who live in their own home (rented or owned) or need residential care in a community-based location; that enables them to maintain their own level of independence through support and supervision, as their particular needs dictate, from experienced and trained care teams.
We have a record of success with individuals who are otherwise considered “difficult to place” with presenting behaviours that inhibit their integration into mainstream society. We have demonstrated consistently that people with severe, enduring and complex needs can thrive in the environs that we support individuals, particularly our specialist Domiciliary Care/Supported Living arrangements.
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Assistant Psychologist to join our clinical team. The Job purpose is:
To work as part of Treherne Care Group’s Clinical Team to support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users within Treherne Care Group’s environs by:
(a) providing psychological assessment and interventions under the day to day guidance of the Consultant Psychologist/Psychotherapist, supervised by a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, in atmospheres which can be highly emotive and hostile.
(b) providing skilled assistance in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics and the development of audit and/or research projects.
(c) Working with the staff teams to develop therapeutic and person-centred approaches
You must have at least a good Honours Degree (2:1 level or higher/or equivalent) providing eligibility for Graduate Membership of BPS. Previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist or working within a clinical/psychology team is essential, experience as a Senior Assistant Psychologist is preferable. Experience of further qualifications in mental health and/or research (e.g. Postgraduate certificate in CBT)
Successful candidates will have to meet the person specification in order to be offered the post. All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.
You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries and the importance of evidence-based interventions. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all a genuine desire to help others.
