Thank you for choosing to study at college. We have been working diligently to ensure you have an exceptional college experience in a welcoming environment that prioritises your needs.

This page highlights the key dates and steps you need to follow next.

Important Dates:

Step 1: Secure Your Place Events: Thursday 20 August and Friday 21 August, 10am to 4pm

Once you've received your exam results and GCSE grades, you're invited to visit the college on one of our dedicated secure your place days to confirm your place on your chosen course. This is your opportunity to share your results with us and ensure you meet the entry requirements for your course. If your grades aren't quite what you expected, don’t worry. Our tutors and Learner Services team will be on hand to offer advice, explore your options, and support you in finding the best pathway forward.

Step 2: College Start Date: Wednesday 2 September

Your course and campus induction will take place over two days;

  • Classes begin for all Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 (Year 1) learners on Wednesday 2nd of September.
  • Classes begin for all Level 3 Year 2 learners on Monday 7th of September.
  • All learners who are studying a Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Year 1 course and have paid a deposit for accommodation in Glanrafon must arrive there on Tuesday 1st of September between 1pm and 3.30pm.
  • Level 3 Year 2 learners who are returning to Glanrafon hostel for a second year can arrive Monday morning the 7th of September.

During your induction, you'll meet your tutors, get an introduction to your course, and receive your timetable for the year ahead. You’ll also be given important information about what equipment or materials you’ll need for your course, as well as how to access any support available throughout the year.

College transport will run as normal using the regular pick-up times and locations. Please visit our College Transport pages to:

  • Check your nearest pick-up point and time
  • Find out how to apply for your bus pass before you start college

What to Bring to Induction:

  • Official examination results paperwork or certificates (if you have not already done so)
  • A letter or statement with your full address, including postcode and telephone number
  • A Resource fee payment of £30.00 (cash, cheque, or debit card - the resource fee is payable by all learners and will cover the cost of the production of student ID cards and printing)
  • Notification letter of entitlement to the Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) or the Welsh Government Learning Grant Further Education, if applicable
  • DBS Certificate, if applicable
  • Money for lunch and drinks or a packed lunch
  • Paper and pens

Glanrafon, Hostel Residents

You will need to ensure that you bring what is required. A letter will be sent to you with further details once your place on a course at Glynllifon has been confirmed. Additional Information:

  • Financial support is available for purchasing essential course equipment and clothing. More information will be provided during induction
  • Learners who received free school meals at school could be eligible for a daily meal allowance. For further information, please contact Learner Services or email finance@gllm.ac.uk
