Independent Living Skills

Within this area, the following three pathways are available:

Life and Work Skills

This route supports young people who have a variety of complex needs, who need to develop skills in order to possibly achieve supported employment and/or supported housing. All courses offer work experience, with a variety of employers, including: Bodafon Farm, Zip World, The Rabbit Hole, St David’s Hospice shops, Eirias Park and Premier Inn.

Foundation

This route supports young people to progress into higher levels of education, including directly onto mainstream provision or into employment (supported employment or apprenticeships) or into engagement/ traineeship programmes. Foundation learners have the opportunity to undertake work experience, both in the community and in real work environments within the College, as well as vocational taster sessions within other programme areas at the relevant campuses.

Developing Independence

This route supports young people who have a variety of complex needs, who wish to develop the skills to enable them to make independent choices as an adult. There is a purpose-built PMLD (profound and multiple learning disabilities) sensory room at the Rhos-on-Sea campus.
