Financial Support and Finance for School Leavers
Depending on your individual circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help to support your studies.
It is easier to take part in education and training than you might think. There are a number of ways in which you can get help with the resources you will need to complete your course successfully. We have a team of advisers who will be able to guide you through the details. Financial support that may be available includes:
Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
If you're aged 16-18 and studying on a course for more than 12 hours a week, you may be able to get £40 a week. EMA is means-tested, so ask Learner Services for more information.

Welsh Government Learning Grant (WGLG)
If you're aged 19+ and living in Wales you can apply for a Welsh Government Learning Grant to help with your on-course costs. The amount awarded depends on your household income and the number of hours you study. Welsh Government Learning Grant is means-tested so ask Learner Services for more information.

Learner Support Fund (LSF)
Need money to help with the costs of uniforms, equipment or childcare? The Learner Support Fund provides financial support to full-time learners who may struggle to cover some of the costs associated with their course. The fund can help towards meeting the costs of DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service - formerly CRB) checks, hostel accommodation, uniforms, kits, equipment, studio fees, some trips, transport and childcare. Learner Services staff can provide guidance and information about financial support available to you.

Looked After Children
Students enrolled on a full-time further education course who are Looked After Children may be eligible for financial support, which is subject to attendance across the year.

Bursaries
Below are the Grŵp Llandrillo Menai bursaries available to eligible students, for more information contact degrees@gllm.ac.uk.

Student Futures Bursary (HEFCW Targeted Employability fund)
Higher Education students from under-represented groups may be eligible for a Student Futures bursary to support with accessing work experience and developing employability skills. For more information email studentfutures@gllm.ac.uk
Part-time Undergraduate Fee Waiver Scheme
Part time students studying a programme of modules of fewer than 30 credits may be eligible to claim a HEFCW fee waiver grant. For further information please email degrees@gllm.ac.uk
Council Tax Reduction and Exemption

If you are apply for council tax reduction or exemption, you can request a 'Confirmation of Student Course Status' form from the College to confirm your student status to the Local Authority. Speak to staff in Learner Services for more information about the form.
Statement on the Welsh Language
All documentation relating to the application for a grant, bursaries or financial assistance to individual applicants, is published in Welsh and English. Applications can be submitted in Welsh and are treated no less favourably than applications submitted in English. If it is necessary to interview individual applicants for grants or financial assistance, interviews are available in Welsh for applicants who applied in Welsh, using simultaneous interpretation if required. If an application for a grant or financial assistance is submitted in Welsh, we inform the applicant of the outcome of our decision in Welsh.
When making a decision in relation to the award of a grant or financial assistance we consider the effects such an award or assistance would have on the opportunities for the applicants and others to use the Welsh language and ensure that our decision would neither reduce opportunities for persons to use the language nor cause adverse effects. The decision may be taken or implemented (for example, by imposing conditions) so that it would have positive effects, or increased positive effects, on opportunities for applicants to use the Welsh language.
