Trainee IT Engineer

With offices in Denbigh and Chester and backed by a team of qualified mobile engineers CATalyst Systems core business revolves around the pro-active provision of managed IT services throughout North Wales, the Wirral & Cheshire.

Established in the early 90's our core business specialises in the design, supply, installation, configuration, deployment, repair & maintenance of computer networks and all related equipment and are noted for taking a professional yet personal approach to your requirements.

This is a full time apprenticeship role, working 42.5 hours per week, shadowing experienced engineers.

The role involves managing the IT infrastructure for our clients, that will include gaining a knowledge of:-
1. IP protocols
2. Microsoft Servers, workstations, laptops and operating systems
3. Hardware fault finding / repair / maintenance / PC setup
4. Microsoft Office 365 suite & deployment
5. Understanding of DRP and BCP backup regimes
6. Off- site cloud backups
7. Deployment of Anti Virus & malware products.
8. Familiarity with security best practice
9. VPN, RDP & remote access solutions
10. FTTP, SoGEA, 4g, Wireless & Satellite broadband
11. Understanding of cabled & wireless network topologies
12. Long range wireless bridges
13. Domain name administration
14. Website and e-mail hosting via numerous web servers
15. VoIP telephony systems
16. IP CCTV systems

Desirable Qualities
Have a passion for IT and a willingness to learn
Capable of working on his / her own initiative and as part of a team
Be confident in his / her own abilities
Be flexible
Possess a Driving Licence or learning to drive. While not critical for the first 6 months, this will be required at a later date.
Common sense
Ability to use his/her own initiative
