Trainee Democratic Services Officer

This post offers the chance to work at the centre of the Council’s decision making process. You will gain valuable experience of the democratic process and will develop the necessary skills and experience to have an exciting and fulfilling career in local government or a related field. We need a team player with good ICT skills who is also able to display tact, diplomacy and an ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

The main purpose of the role is to assist in the provision of professional, high quality administrative and procedural support to committees and panels and support the Executive and scrutiny committees in delivering their forward work programmes. The role also involves supporting colleagues by attending meetings, helping to ensure constitutional rules are followed, preparing agendas, reports, decision records and minutes. Also, to provide administrative backup in support of democratic services functions maintaining good working relationships with Elected Members and officers of the Council.
