Second Chef (Restaurant)

Venue Cymru is the regions busiest arts and events centre.

As well as being responsible for the restaurant kitchen you will also work in the other kitchens of the catering department carrying out a range of duties including setting-up areas, cleaning, preparation and cooking of local produce. You will have an understanding of how each service station works and will be able to prep, cook and serve from different sections in the kitchen. You must have a relaxed ability to work between different catering areas and have an excellent knowledge of fine dining and conference & banqueting catering.

Previous experience of working in a similar role or as a Second Chef would be an advantage however training will be given.

In conjunction with the Head Chef you will design, cost menus which are to be implemented into the Y Review Restaurant and be responsible for training junior members of the team on any changes to the menu. Throughout the running of the restaurant you will be required to maintain the Level 5 Food Hygiene rating of the building.

To ensure adequate bilingual provision within the section, the ability to communicate in English is essential and the ability to converse in Welsh would be desirable for this post.

Unlike most Chef positions in a restaurant or hospitality venue we can offer family friendly hours dependant on the programme of events, limited Sunday working and the venue is closed on Christmas and New Years’ Day.

Permanent 37 hours per week

£26,421 to £29,777 per annum (G05)
