Course Description
Are you looking to start a career in travel and tourism?
This course provides you with an introduction to the travel and tourism sector. You will learn the essential skills of the industry, preparing you for further study or a starting point for your career.
Entry Criteria
- You must have an interest in the travel and tourism industry and business
- You must be enthusiastic and motivated
- You must have good social and communication skills
- You must be prepared to develop good customer service skills
- Places on the programme are subject to successful interview
Delivery
The programme will be delivered through a blend of the following:

- Outside visits
- Visiting speakers
- Case studies

Your programme will include a combination of:
- Essential Skills qualifications and/or
- GCSE resits
Essential Skills
This may include a combination of Application of Number, Communication, Digital Literacy and Essential Employability Skills

This may include GCSE Numeracy/Maths and/or Welsh/English Language.
Maths & Welsh/English
If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.
Assessment
The programme will be assessed through a blend of the following:
- Portfolio work
- Coursework and assignments
- Projects
- Group work
- Presentations
Progression
Completion of this course will provide a range of options in employment and education. You will have gained introductory industry skills and qualities, allowing you to work towards a range of careers, either directly or after further training. This includes employment in local and regional tourism organisations, the national attractions market and the conference and events market, as well as overseas roles with airlines, resorts and tour operators.
You may be able to progress onto a Level 2 qualification, in travel and tourism or another subject.
