This course is available to anyone with an interest in crime and punishment.

Course contents:

  • How crime is socially constructed and Relative nature of crime
  • Models of punishment
  • Key types of punishment used in the following times:
  • Early Modern Britain (c. 1500–1700)
  • 18th and 19th Century
  • 20th–21st Century
  • Development of prisons and prison reform
  • Crime and punishment today
