Course Description

These qualifications are for people who want to develop their career in Medical Administration. You will benefit from a range of useful skills suitable for a variety of administration and office context within a medical environment – e.g. Community Care, Primary Care, Secondary Care or Private Medical Organisations.

During the course you will cover a large range of topics giving you comprehensive skills and experience in all aspects of administrative work designed to work in a medical environment. You will be able to further develop your work skills and employability as well as gaining a recognised qualification suitable to work in the NHS.

Subjects covered on the course include, business administration skills, knowledge of the NHS structure, medical terminology, Health & Safety, essential computing skills in word processing and audio transcription. These will develop your personal and practical skills in how to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and members of the health care team and gain an understanding of hospital and general practice procedures and the use of office equipment and IT.

A qualification in Level 2 Medical Administration can help you succeed in an administrative role in any size or type of organisation, including: Secretary, Receptionist, Administrator, Medical Records Clerk and Ward Clerk.

Entry Criteria

  • 3 GCSEs at Grade D or above and 1 GCSE at Grade E, including English or Welsh 1st Language and Maths, and/or
  • A relevant Level 1 qualification in Administration at PASS grade

Delivery

Delivery will be through a range of approaches including presentation’s, group work, practical workshops.

Assessment

All work will be assessed through a mixed approach including the following: portfolio of evidence; Assignment; Short answer questions.
