Course Description

Candidates who enrol on this course must be passionate about working in the wind industry and want to gain more knowledge and understanding of wind turbines. The course has at its core a breadth and depth of engineering knowledge, covering electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and control and instrumentation, all of which are fundamental to the development of the skills and knowledge required of a practicing wind turbine engineer.

Entry Criteria

In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:

  • 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English or Welsh 1st Language and Maths
  • A relevant Level 2 qualification at Pass
  • BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Relevant industry experience

As part of the application process, you will be asked to attend an interview to give you the opportunity to discuss the course.

Delivery

Through a combination of classroom and workshop sessions including group work, discussions and tutorials.

  • Written examinations

Progression

This qualification demonstrates a broad understanding of the wind industry enhancing career prospects within that sector. It also provides progression onto courses at Grwp Llandrillo Menai including HNC in General Engineering.
