Course Description
This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills around supporting individuals with learning disabilities. It is aimed at learners who support individuals with learning disabilities as part of their job role. It is recommended that learners are working, volunteering or on practical placement to be able to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
Suitable for those whose job role is not exclusively focused around supporting individuals with learning disabilities, but who come into contact with people as part of their job, for example: health, care, education, housing, leisure, employment, libraries, probation.
Entry Criteria
- Experience or interest in supporting children/adults with Learning Disabilities.
- Good Level 1/equivalent literacy skills.
Delivery
This level 2 qualification is delivered predominantly in college via taught sessions, practical activities and tutorials. You may require a work placement supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities.
Assessment
The units within this qualification require both written knowledge in the form of a portfolio of work and the assessment of skills via direct observation whilst on placement.

This qualification enables learners to progress to:

- level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
