Course Description

Would you like to develop a career in uniformed public services?

This program is suitable for students who wish to pursue a career in uniformed services eg fire service, police, army, navy etc.

The program is appropriate for learners who are active in their fitness and learning. It is designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to succeed in current and future employment, or progress to Level 3 courses.

The course includes outdoor activities where you will be challenged both physically and mentally. This will require the right clothes and a positive attitude towards developing yourself. It is delivered using a mixture of practical, work-related and theoretical tasks and activities.

Units of study include:

  • Public Service Skills and Support for the Community

  • Employment in Uniformed Public Services

  • Sport and Recreation in Public Services

  • Expedition and Land Navigation Skills

Entry Criteria

4 GCSEs grade A* - D, including English or Welsh (First Language) and Mathematics / Numeracy - or - a Level 1 Diploma (MM) qualification in a relevant vocational field together with having shown commitment to your studies in your main program and progress in Maths and English.
