Course Description

These qualifications are for people who want to develop their career in Medical Administration. You will benefit from a range of useful skills suitable for a variety of administration and office context within a medical environment – e.g. Community Care, Primary Care, Secondary Care or Private Medical Organisations.

Subjects covered on the course will cover the same areas as the Level 2 course but at a more advanced level and will develop your work, leadership and supervisory skills. Topics covered include, business administration and communication skills, knowledge of the NHS structure, medical terminology, Health & Safety and legislation, essential computing skills in medical word processing and medical audio transcription.

During the course you will cover a wide range of specialist medical terminology, as well gain an understanding of how to manage your time and workload, work as an effective team member, implement efficient administrative systems and procedures and develop the practical skills required to produce appropriate business and medical documentation.

You will develop the skills needed to support the needs of a busy consultant and/or health care team whilst dealing with patients and play a major part in fulfilling the role of a medical administrator. You will develop your communication skills and gain an understanding of patient confidentiality and team work, ensuring you will be able to meet your Organisation's requirements effectively.

A qualification in Level 3 Medical Administration can help you succeed in an administrative role in any size or type of organisation, e.g. Secretary, Receptionist, Administrator, Medical Records Clerk, Ward Clerk and Office Supervisor/Team Leader.

Entry Criteria

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English or Welsh 1st Language and Maths, and/or
  • A relevant Level 2 qualification in Administration at PASS grade, and/or
  • Level 2 Diploma in Medical Administration

Delivery

Delivery will be through a range of approaches including presentation’s, group work, practical workshops.

Course fees £714 per annum

Assessment

All work will be assessed through a mixed approach including the following:- portfolio of evidence; Assignment; Short answer questions.
