Course Description
Over our six-week course you will be taught the history of:
- British Sign Language: Learn about the evolution of sign language in Britain
- Deaf Education: Learn about the opening and closing down of schools for the Deaf.
- The Milan Conference 1880: Learn about the banning of sign language and the effect this had on Deaf people’s lives.
- The Second World War and Deaf people: Lean what happened to Deaf people during the war.
- Employment and Deaf People: Learn about the changes to their employment over the years.
- Famous Deaf people: And what they are famous for.
Entry Criteria
This course will be taught through the medium of BSL with no interpreter.
All students must have a good understanding of BSL in order to enrol.
Delivery
Delivered through tutor led presentations.
Assessment
No assessment required. You will receive a certificate of participation upon completion.
