Course Description

A relaxed and creative course for adults, no previous art experience required.

Explore the benefits of creativity in a friendly, supportive and informal setting. This course is designed to encourage relaxation, curiosity and wellbeing through simple, enjoyable art activities.

You’ll explore mark-making, basic drawing and introductory watercolour skills, using the natural world as inspiration. With a particular focus on botanicals, plants and our surrounding environment, we’ll look closely at colour, shape, texture and pattern and discover creative ways to respond to what we see around us.

The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who would like to refresh their creative skills. Activities are designed to be accessible and adaptable, with an emphasis on enjoying the creative process rather than producing a perfect finished artwork.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore playful and expressive mark-making
  • Develop simple observational drawing skills
  • Learn basic watercolour techniques
  • Experiment with colour, shape, texture and pattern
  • Create drawings and paintings inspired by botanicals and the local environment
  • Take time to observe, make and connect with your surroundings
  • Build confidence and enjoy being creative in a relaxed community setting
  • No experience is necessary just come along, have a go and enjoy making art.
