Is this course right for me?

The NVQ Level 2 is suitable for technical people who are interested in the wind turbine maintenance sector. The course offers the opportunity to accumulate evidence of skills, knowledge and understanding, to gain a nationally recognised qualification for wind turbine technicians. Candidates enrolled on this course must be passionate about working in the industry, and want to learn the skills and knowledge required.

Entry requirements:

Candidates must be able to demonstrate mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge, preferably with an NVQ level 2 diploma in Wind Turbine Maintenance (technical knowledge)

Delivery:

This NVQ is delivered in the Wind Turbine Training Center (WTTC), Rhos-on-Sea. The WTTC is a specialist centre used to train technicians and apprentices. The center houses bespoke facilities for the sector, with staff who assess both Level 2 and3 Technicians for the sector. There will be a mix of practical demonstrations, classroom work and lectures.

Assessment:

This course is assessed through portfolio work and observations.

Progression:

On completion, candidates should consider the Level 3 engineering qualifications that would lead to the CandG 2339-53 Level 3 Diploma in Wind Turbine Maintenance (Technical Knowledge). Alternatively, candidates can apply for apprenticeships within the industry or gain further guidance.
