Is this course right for me?
This qualification will benefit anyone who prepares and serves food, as it provides learners with a basic understanding of nutrition and the requirements of special diets to enable the planning and provision of well-balanced meals that will have a positive impact on health.
There are no prerequisites for this qualification. It is advisable that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English and Maths or equivalent.
The course is delivered by a taught session and group work.
This qualification is assessed by an end-of-course multiple choice exam paper. A pass mark of 14 out of 20 is required.
Individuals achieving this qualification may wish to progress on to other food safety related qualifications, such as Highfield Level 2 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering and/or the Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Management for Caterers.
