The Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management is ideal for individuals who have management responsibilities but no formal training, and are serious about developing their abilities.

It particularly supports practising team leaders seeking to move up to the next level of management, and managers who need to lead people through organisational change, budget cuts or other challenges.

You can choose to study at either our Bangor or Rhos-on-sea campus, or at the Management Centre in Bangor University, Abergele, Llangefni and Porthmadog FC.

Entry requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements, but participants will:

  • Be working as a first-line manager or looking for management work
  • Have a sufficient level of Basic Skills, Literacy and Numeracy, in order to benefit fully from the programme
  • Have the support of their employers, with or without sponsorship

All places are subject to satisfactory interview.

Assessment:

The course is assessed through a blend of the following:

  • Work-based assignments

Problem Solving Work based Assignment - This task requires you to identify a workplace problem facing you or your team and examine ways to resolve it. 

Understanding customer service standards and requirements Work based Assignment - This task requires you to demonstrate your knowledge of customer service and customer service standards. It also requires you to show how monitoring customer service standards and gathering feedback from customers can be used to improve performance.

Progression:

Completion of this course allows you to progress in education and in employment. If you already hold a management position, the course helps you to be an effective and efficient manager. You will develop your professional practice and may be able to work towards promotion into middle management.

Within education, the logical progression is to complete the ILM Level 3 Certificate and Diploma in Leadership and Management, which take into account the modules you will already have completed. After you complete the Level 3 Diploma, you can progress onto the ILM Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management which helps equip you for middle management responsibilities.
