College is still accepting online applications for courses starting in September 2020.
Interviews are cancelled to help to limit social contact during this time.
Instead, you will be invited to a college welcome event to meet the tutors before the start of the course. If you do not meet the entry criteria you will have the opportunity to discuss an alternative programme during this event.

Are you looking to develop advanced skills in patisserie and confectionery?
Whether you are coming from industry seeking an internationally recognised qualification or looking to make a natural progression from level 2, this vocational programme is an ideal way forward.
This course has been designed to develop your practical skills and enhance your knowledge while helping you gain an advanced professional qualification.
You will learn how to prepare, cook and present a wide range of hot and cold pastry dishes in addition to complex fermented dough products, other bakery goods and petits fours. You will also practice advanced techniques skills for working with sugar and chocolate.
You will investigate gastronomy and food culture, as well as developing your research and supervisory skills and finding out about the latest industry related regulations. As you develop your expertise and your confidence, you will be encouraged to take part in competitions at both national and international level.
In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:
- A relevant Level 2 qualification at Pass
- Relevant industry experience
You will also require an attendance level of 86% in your previous year of study.
As part of the application process, you will be asked to attend an interview to give you the opportunity to discuss the course.
The programme will be delivered through a blend of the following:
- Practical workshops
- Theory sessions
- Working in a realistic working environment
- Practical tasks
- Short answer written tests
Completion of this course gives you a range of options in education and employment. You will benefit from a new set of specialist skills and understandings, and will be able to excel in more advanced areas of cookery.
You could proceed onto a number of programmes at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, including:
- Foundation Degree (FdA) Culinary Arts
- BA (Hons) Hospitality Management
Excellent prospects of employment are available in the industry for qualified Pâtissiers and Confectioners, and you will be able to seek work in a range of organisations.
If you already have professional experience, the course adds to your employability and allows you to re-enter the industry with enhanced opportunities.
