Important Entry Requirement & Application Update
College is still accepting online applications for courses starting in September 2020.
Interviews are cancelled to help to limit social contact during this time.
Instead, you will be invited to a college welcome event to meet the tutors before the start of the course. If you do not meet the entry criteria you will have the opportunity to discuss an alternative programme during this event.

Are you interested in a rewarding career as an electrician?
This programme allows you to gain a range of practical skills, preparing you to work in electrical installation.
There are opportunities for electricians in the agricultural, commercial, domestic and industrial sectors, including specialist areas like sustainable energy, wind turbines and photovoltaics. Electricians may be self-employed, contracted, or employed by a wide range of employers, including building firms, engineering companies, local government, hospitals and colleges.
In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:
- You will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to study by achieving your GCSE target grades and completing year 11 with good attendance.
- Successful completion of a Traineeship, Pre-vocational, Pathways or School Link Programme
- Relevant industry experience
As part of the application process, you will be asked to attend an interview to give you the opportunity to discuss the course.

- Knowledge-based units
- Guided practical sessions
- Practical projects
- Lectures and discussions
The programme is assessed through a blend of the following:
- Internally set assignments
- Programme work
- Practical assessments
- Externally set exams (practical and theory)
The programme gives you to knowledge and skills to begin or continue your career in electrical installation. Whether you want to work in installation, production or service and maintenance, you will need the fundamental knowledge and skills provided by this programme.
You could progress onto a number of programmes at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, including:
- Electrical Installation Level 2
You could also complete further training on a part-time basis.
