Letter to learners

Our reference: DE/Learners
Date: 11/06/2020
Ask for: Your Personal Tutor

Dear Learner,

Kirsty Williams, the Minister for Education, has said that from Monday 15th June, colleges can partially open to small groups of learners to complete face to face vocational assessments and provide learners with support.

As I have said previously the vast majority of learners will continue to receive online support from tutors, and support staff, and will therefore not need to return to college this term.

We are currently implementing detailed plans which meet the protocols set out by Welsh Government to ensure that all staff and learners will be safe when attending College campuses. Please don’t worry if you are not asked to attend college because we are prioritising learners who need support and those who need to complete practical assessments before they progress into employment next year. We will contact these small groups of learners over the next four weeks to agree an appointment to attend college.

If you have applied for a place on a course at GLLM we are planning to return to face to face teaching in accordance with Government protocols next academic year, and will share with you our plans for enrolment, induction and teaching over the summer. For those of you who are unsure what you are going to do we would like to invite you to our virtual open events which are due to take place week commencing 22nd June. This will give you the opportunity to talk to advice, guidance and curriculum staff virtually, hear from existing learners, see our state of the art resources and workshops and secure a place on a course which is right for you.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support during this time.

Yours sincerely,

Dafydd Evans
