Our reference: DE/End of Term
Date: 22/05/2020
Ask for: Your Personal Tutor

Dear Learner,

As we approach the end of this half-term I wanted to tell you about what will be happening next at college.

Our main priority so far has been to ensure all learners finish the college year with their qualifications. Teaching staff have worked hard to ensure that this will be possible and we will have achieved this for many learners by the end of term. We will be sharing final grades with learners on GCSE and A Level results days in August (GCSE - 20th & A Levels - 13th).

After the whit holiday we will be providing the following support to learners:

  • Personal tutors will meet with all learners to provide advice, guidance and support.
  • For those learners who are coming to the end of the first year of a Level 3 course and are returning to a second year in September, we will be setting you some summer homework that will support your next stage of learning in the second year.
  • Continue to provide online counselling, welfare, application support and advice and guidance.

Over the past few weeks we have been working on plans to welcome staff and learners back as soon as Welsh Government decides it is safe for schools and colleges to reopen. As lockdown measures change, college will initially focus on the following priority groups:

  • Learners who are required to complete an assessment in college and this mainly involves construction, hair and beauty, hospitality and engineering courses. If you are on a course in one of these areas, we are looking forward to welcoming you back to college before the end of the Summer Term. Your Personal Tutor will keep you updated;
  • Learners who would benefit from accessing campus support services. We will let you know when this will be possible and who to contact.

Finally, I must take this opportunity to thank you all for being so responsible and so positive during this difficult time.

Yours sincerely,

Dafydd Evans
