The Health, Social Care & Childcare Programme Area offers learners the opportunity to gain experience of a variety of health and social care professions.

Health career opportunities are in nursing and allied health professions including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, podiatry and speech and language therapy. There are also opportunities to progress to social care, social work, child care, teaching and a range of other public services.

Learners on Health & Social Care and Childcare courses will require an enhanced CRB check.

  • BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Health, Social Care and Childcare

  • BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care

    Would you like a career in health and social care? Could you benefit from a practical introductory course? This course gives you a broad introduction to health and social, focusing on the needs of real job roles and situations. It allows you to develop the fundamental skills of the sector, and it brings your knowledge to the required level for a range of careers. The course is suitable for students progressing from a related Level 1 course or from GCSE study. After completing the course, you will be able to work in a number of roles, including community support worker or care assistant. The course also prepares  and enables learners to progress to a level 3 qualification and eventual careers including nursing, social work and residential care management.

  • BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Health and Social Care

    The BTEC First Diploma in Health & Social Care is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. <br /><br />It introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification. <br /><br />A BTEC Level 2 Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A*– C and is normally taken as a full-time course.

  • BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Health and Social Care

    Would you like to complement your A Levels with a more vocational course? Are you interested in finding out about health and social care? This course is offered to A Level students at our Denbigh campus, and allows you to gain vocational skills alongside your academic subjects. It is structured like an A Level, allowing you to gain an AS equivalent followed by the full Diploma, which is equivalent to an A Level up to A* grade. The course provides an in-depth introduction to health and social care, and allows you to explore the range of careers available within the sector. You will cover core units to provide the fundamental knowledge and specialist units to focus on particular topics. At the end of the course, you will have the option of pursuing a vocational course of Higher Education. You will also have developed important professional skills, applicable to a range of jobs.
